We started Jake on solids on Saturday! I was very excited to see how he would do with them. On Saturday we started with jarred sweet potatoes. He didn’t seem to be a fan of them AT ALL. He kept sticking his tongue out and was spitting them out.
On Sunday I took on the challenge of making my own sweet potatoes. It was actually incredibly easy. I just baked the sweet potato, pureed it, then used ice cube trays and filled each spot with sweet potato and froze it. Afterwards I popped them out and put them in a big ziploc bag. They make the perfect serving size and thaw in a very short period of time!
Jake has had sweet potatoes 4 days now and he seems to be liking them better each day. We’re currently waiting 4 days between each new food to make sure he doesn’t have any allergies. So I’m trying to decide what to add in next. We may add in cereal just so he gets used to it. Then we’ll venture out into other veggies and then add in fruits. Our pediatrician recommended waiting on peas and green beans because they come from the soy family and that could have an impact on his reflux.
