18 weeks

Today was my routine 4 week checkup. These appointments are pretty standard. Get weighed, have blood pressure taken, listen to baby, ask questions. Well, I’ve been obsessing over my 10 lb weight gain and even before I could ask about it my midwife said that it’s totally on track and she isn’t worried about it at all. So yay for being normal! Then we listened to the baby. Heart rate in the 140s like usual. The past few times it’s been 130s-140s.

Then she asked me if we wanted a boy or a girl. I told her we’d be fine with either, but we’re both pretty convinced it’s a boy. (I even had a dream last night that we were at our ultrasound and they told us it a was a boy). So then on the bottom of my chart she wrote two little words and two male symbols. I figured she was writing what we thought we were having to see if we were right when we have our ultrasound. But after I got home, I got to thinking and realized that the other word with the other male symbol was HER prediction! (she has a whiteboard in her office that says how often she is right on her guesses.. of course we were in the other office today so I couldn’t see what % she has gotten right). But it’s sorta cool that her prediction is the same as ours. So we shall see!

I guess that brings me to when our ultrasound will be. She said they wanted to wait 4 more weeks to make sure the baby was big enough to get all the measurements. So we won’t get to have it done until June 29th, which will put me at exactly 22 weeks.

How far along: 18 weeks

Next appointment: June 29th, regular check up AND ultrasound!!

Any new aches/pains: I get extremely tired just doing simple things lately.. I feel like a fat kid that gets out of breath just by walking up a flight of stairs!

Maternity clothes: still wearing my regular clothes

Sleep: getting worse.. I am the most comfortable sleeping on my back, but I wake up with a massive backache when I do.

Best moment this week: feeling the baby move on Sunday!

Movement: I can finally say yet to this one!! On Sunday while I was at work I was sitting at the nurse’s station and felt 4 lower abdominal taps in a row! And ever since I’ve been feeling random taps and poking feelings.. But the one that I could really do without is when all of a sudden I feel pain/pressure on my bladder and then the sudden urge to pee. This happened while laying in bed last night as well as while I was shopping at Fred Meyer today. It is NOT pleasant!

Food cravings: cereal.. lots of cereal!

Belly button: still there

What I miss: not feeling constantly fatigued!

What I’m looking forward to this week: being one week closer to closing on our house!

Weekly wisdom: saying something in days rather than weeks sounds much faster i.e. my ultrasound is in 28 days sounds better than my ultrasound is in 4 weeks!

Belly 2 Belly 3

22 more weeks to go!
