By the time that I actually make this post public, I’ll be much further along. I’m sitting here writing this 3 days after we found out that I was pregnant. However, we’re not planning on telling anyone about it for at least a few more weeks.
The fact that we were even trying to have a baby is probably news to a lot of people. There were only 4 people out there that knew that we were even trying to get pregnant. The reason I told anyone was because I just had to have SOMEONE to talk to it about.
So let’s fast forward to Friday, February 19th. We had just gotten home from eating out and I was so impatient that I decided I had to take a test. Stupid idea because it was afternoon and I had just had a lot of water to drink. Of course, the test was negative. I woke up the next morning knowing that we had agreed to wait until Sunday to test. However, I just couldn’t wait any longer. So I went into the bathroom and took a test. Then I got back in bed. A few minutes later Gage had to go to the bathroom. So I got up when he did so I could look at the test. He looked at it and said “I don’t see anything. We’ll test again tomorrow.” I picked it up and saw a little smudge of pink next to the control line. I tilted it and said, “Umm, I disagree! I think I see something!” I pointed to it and Gage went to get a marker. He marked where he thought I was seeing something. And I said “Yep, that’s it!” Then he told me, “Well, we’ll test again tomorrow to see if it’s really there.” I proceeded to point out that a line is a line and it means I’m pregnant regardless of how dark it is!
Then I grabbed another test from my stash. Once again, a faint line. I shrugged it off, took a shower, then proceeded to take one that I swiped from the ER at work. It was darker than the other two. I think I finally convinced Gage that I was pregnant with 3 tests!
The next morning I woke up and took another test to make sure it was actually real. And I got another faint line that was slightly darker than the day before. We went out to breakfast and after we got home Gage went to get his haircut. So I pulled out a digital test. I had been waiting to take it until I was certain it would be positive. I stood there and stared at it while the hourglass flashed and flashed. And then it finally said “PREGNANT”. Gage got home and I showed it to him.
So now I’m pregnant! And due on November 2nd!
Oh, and I pulled out the initial test that I had taken on Friday and lo and behold, it had a faint plus sign! We must have been impatient and didn’t give it enough time to turn positive!
